Planning a ski trip to Stowe means making a few decisions before you reach the mountain. Where will you collect your equipment? What does the package include? Is it worth paying more for a demo setup, or will a standard rental suit you?
This guide compares selected Stowe ski and snowboard rental options, including shops on Mountain Road and rentals through Stowe Mountain Resort.
I’m Sarah Ouellette, founder of GearVT. I grew up in Stowe, learned to ski young, and watched winter guests come and go from my parents’ inn in the Lower Village. One thing I appreciate about a well-planned trip is how much easier the morning feels when the practical details are already settled.
This is a selected guide, not a complete directory or a ranking of every rental business in Stowe. Information was checked against provider websites on October 18, 2026. Confirm prices, availability, and terms for your dates before booking.
Compare Stowe Rental Options

These businesses offer different combinations of equipment and service. Compare the package you actually need rather than assuming every advertised rental is equivalent.

Stowe Mountain Resort Rentals
Stowe Mountain Resort offers online ski and snowboard rental booking and resort pickup options.
Its rental page advertises advance-booking savings and benefits for eligible pass holders. Stowe is also listed among the resorts offering the Pick Your Own Demo package, subject to location and equipment availability.
Use the booking system to check prices for your dates, package, and pickup location. This guide does not quote a fixed resort rental rate.
The resort’s rental information also describes delivery and overnight storage at selected locations. Confirm that the service you want is available for your particular reservation rather than assuming it applies to every package.

Renting on Mountain Road or Through the Resort
Think through your entire morning before choosing a rental location.
A Mountain Road shop may fit naturally into your arrival route or allow you to organize equipment separately from your first mountain morning. Ask about collection times and whether previous-day pickup is available for your reservation.
A resort rental location may suit you if you want to collect equipment close to where your day begins. Confirm the exact pickup point, particularly if someone in your group has a lesson.
Delivery is another option to investigate when coordinating several people or avoiding an extra stop matters to you. Check whether your lodging can accommodate the fitting appointment and where equipment should be left for collection.
Convenience depends on your itinerary. Map your lodging, rental location, and mountain destination before deciding.
What Should a Rental Package Include?
The words “complete package” don’t answer every question. Before reserving, confirm:
- Equipment: Skis, boots, and poles—or snowboard, bindings, and boots.
- Helmet: Whether it is included, optional, or separately charged.
- Duration: How the provider counts rental days.
- Additional charges: Taxes, damage coverage, delivery, or other fees.
- Exchanges: What happens if boots are uncomfortable or equipment needs adjustment.
- Returns: The deadline and location for bringing everything back.
- Cancellation: The terms if your plans change.
For a meaningful price comparison, use the same dates, number of days, and equipment requirements for each provider.
Standard Rentals or Demo Equipment?
Start with an honest description of your experience and the skiing or riding you expect to do. Ask the shop to explain the differences between its packages.
A higher-priced package is not automatically the right choice for every person. If you’re learning, prioritize appropriate equipment, a careful fitting, and clear instructions.
If you’re interested in a particular ski or snowboard, ask whether that model and size can be reserved or whether the booking guarantees only an equipment category. Availability can change, so avoid planning around a specific model without confirmation.
Planning Rentals for Children
Check each provider’s junior age or sizing rules before comparing prices. They may define their packages differently.
Allow enough time for children to be fitted without rushing. Ask them to describe how their boots feel and raise concerns with the rental staff before leaving.
If lessons are part of the trip, confirm what equipment is included in the lesson purchase, if any, before booking a separate rental. Coordinate fitting and collection with the lesson’s arrival instructions.
Before You Book
Have your dates, lodging address, and each renter’s requested information ready. Read the confirmation carefully and keep pickup instructions accessible.
Rental equipment and mountain access are separate things to check. Confirm lift tickets, lessons, parking, and current resort arrangements independently unless your purchase explicitly includes them.
A little preparation gives you fewer decisions to make when everyone is dressed, excited, and ready to get outside.
